Michael “Jason” Smith, 42, of Star City, passed away on July 24, 2019 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was born on December 24, 1976 in Pine Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed auto body and auto glass repairman. His teenage years were spent rodeoing and bullriding and he spent a couple years doing Superbull in Little Rock. He enjoyed woodworking and had once carved a sign for Red Jacket Firearms and he once appeared on an episode on Sons of Guns presenting the sign.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lecel and Effie Smith; and maternal grandparents, Sarah Johnson and Buddy Culpepper.
Survivors include his father, Harold Smith of Star City; mother, Becky (Phil) Mays of Sheridan; three daughters, Kallie (Swade) Yarbrough of Star City; Sofia Smith and Penelope Smith, both of Sheridan; three brothers, Steven (Nina) Smith, Keith (Cortney) Smith, both of Grapevine and Corey Smith of Star City; grandson, Waylon Yarbrough; a granddaughter that is due any day, Daelyn Yarbrough; niece, Gracie; and five nephews, David, James, Ryan, Camron and Lee.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m at Griffin Funeral Home in Star City, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
