Michael Vance Sturdivant, 65, of Crossett, passed away on October 14, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Sturdivant was a former brakeman and engineer for the Ashley Drew & Northern Railway Co. and a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director for many years along with assisting with the youth and VBS.
He was also a member of the Crossett Riding Club and an avid deer hunter.
He was born on May 24, 1949 in Eureka Springs and was the son of the late Vance and Maxine Sturdivant.
Mr. Sturdivant is survived by his wife of 26 years, Deborah Hamm Sturdivant of Crossett; two sons, Kyle Sturdivant of Houston, Texas and Jacky Sturdivant and wife Cortney of Crossett; a daughter, Chancee Sturdivant Griffith and husband Michael of Crossett; and two brothers, John Sturdivant and wife Veronica, and Robert E. Sturdivant and wife Lynn all of Crossett; and seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 20 at 11 a.m. at Medders Funeral Home Chapel in Crossett with Bros. Mike Chain and Art Crymes officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marion Hamm, Dave Hamm, Anthony Sturdivant, Dennis Maxwell, Robert Riles, David Maxwell Keith Maxwell and Julian Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be former employees of AD&N Railway Co.
