Mildred Wallis Wallick McGinnis entered this world, March 9, 1936 in Emerson, Arkansas. She departed this life, June 1, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, at the age of 78.
The youngest of four children, Mrs. McGinnis was raised in Drew County, just south of Monticello. She attended Drew Central Schools where she graduated valedictorian in1954. She furthered her education, enrolling in Arkansas A&M College (University of Arkansas at Monticello) where she attended classes, before moving with her husband in support of his educational pursuits.
During her lifetime, she bore and raised three children, served in the employment of Monticello Medical Clinic, volunteered with numerous charitable organizations, and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Odessa Wallis; two brothers, James and Eugene Wallis; and her first husband, Dr. Paul Wallick.
She is survived by her current husband, Mike McGinnis of Monticello; one brother, Elray, also of Monticello; two sons, Paul Wallick, Jr. and wife Tammy of Monticello and Brian Wallick and wife Cindy, of Little Rock; and one daughter, Sherri Witcher and husband Dwight, of Selma, Arkansas. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren; Justin Witcher with wife Callie of Monticello, and Kristi Ferguson with husband Brian, of Fayetteville; and also one great grandchild.
Defined by her compassionate personality, as well as her gentle and loving nature, Mildred Wallis Wallick McGinnis will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by her family and many friends.
Visitation is June 3 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. A funeral service will be held June 4 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Monticello. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
