Miles Jr. “Tex” Whitener, Sr., 82, of Monticello, passed away on January 1, 2020 at his home.
He was born on June 11, 1937 in Galveston, Texas to the late Oscar Whitener and Clara Louise Edmiston Whitener.
Mr. Whitener was retired from Burlington Industries, a United States Army Veteran of Korea and was of the Assembly of God faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his church and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and enjoying nature.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitener was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Renita Gunn Whitener of Monticello; two sons, Jason Whitener of Austin, Texas and Miles Jr. Whitener, Jr. of New Hampshire; three daughters, Terry Whitener Roberts of Pine Bluff, Michelle Whitener Medlin of Kansas and Cammie Whitener Edwards of Florida; four grandchildren, Breanna, Brittany, Lynn and Brook; and two great-grandchildren, Kable and Milla.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
