Milton “Hot” McNeely Hemingway, 91, of McGehee, passed away on August 1, 2016 at McGehee Hospital.
He was a retired Post Master at the McGehee Post Office and a member of the American Legion. He served in the United States Navy and was a Purple Heart recipient. He also served on the McGehee Water Department Board, was a volunteer fireman and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in McGehee. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Hemingway was born on November 16, 1924 in Arkansas City and was the son of the late Thomas F. and Mary McNeely Hemingway.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Langston Hemingway.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Belle Hemingway of McGehee; a son, Rick Hemingway (Beth Holt) of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Linda Griggs of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Leslie Griggs Rhodes (Justin) of White Hall, Susan Griggs Kerr (Greg) of Benton, Ken Griggs of Springdale and Melissa Hemingway Watkins (Barton) of White Hall; great-grandchildren, Garett Rhodes, Lillian Rhodes, Allyson Kerr, Emma Griggs, Anna Kerr, Gracie Watkins, and Ellie Watkins; step-children, Tommy Stepherson of Hot Springs and Marjorie Day (Chuck) of McGehee; step-grandchildren, Sarah Red (Schantz) of Benton, Camille Keller (Aaron) of Little Rock, Courtney Ditmanson (Danny) of Sherman, Texas and Mallory Hyatt (Michael) of McGehee; step-great-grandchildren, Whitlee Red, Steven Hudson, Kemp Keller, Cameron Keller, Dayne Ditmanson, Anna Belle Ditmanson, and Hazel Hyatt.
Visitation will be held on August 2 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee. Funeral services will be held on August 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Father Van Windsor officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery.
