Christmas festivities in historic downtown Monticello, featuring the Santa Train and the 26th annual Carols of Christmas Parade on the town square, will be held on December 3.
The event gets underway at 4 p.m. with rides on the trackless Santa Train, gifts and treats for children, followed by a pre-parade reception at Union Bank where parade goers can meet Miss Arkansas and the parade judges.
The Christmas parade, which features Christmas floats and other entries with the traditional Christmas carol theme, begins at 6 p.m. The parade will follow its usual route down North Main Street, around the town square to South Main and end at the Drew County Historical Museum where the Drew County Historical Society will host its annual Christmas tour of the museum and children can meet Santa Claus.
The Monticello High School Booster Club will sponsor a chili supper at the First Methodist Church immediately after the parade. The chili supper is a fundraiser to benefit Safe Prom.
