Concerned Citizens of Monticello will host a political candidate forum on October 4 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for candidates seeking the following offices: Drew County Judge, Drew County Collector, District 8 Justice of the Peace, District 9 Justice of the Peace, and the Ward 3, Position 2 seat on the Monticello City Council. The forum will be held at the Ethel Hawkins Center at Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church at 527 E. McCloy in Monticello.

“The political forum is designed to provide candidates the opportunity to inform residents of Monticello and Drew County about how they intend to address critical issues facing our city and county,” according to a news release announcing the event. “The candidates will also have an opportunity to ensure that their positions on the issues are fairly and accurately represented. It is important that our citizens get the chance to hear from candidates before the election so that they go into the voting booth as informed voters.”

The group encourages the public attend the event and “come with a few questions in mind for the candidates.”

Concerned Citizens of Monticello is a community-based group focused on organizing parents and community members around the issues that affect their children and families. The organization encourages citizens to get involved in community activism, education, and the political process at the local and state levels.
