Jerry Wesley Pryor Jr. is being held without bond in the Drew County Detention Center in connection with the Sunday night fatal shooting of 53-year-old Charles Hewitt.
The Drew County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 7:50 p.m. saying that someone had been shot in the Ladelle community, just south of Monticello.
When deputies arrived at Hewitt’s home they found Hewitt lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. Hewitt was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is alleged to have gained entry into Hewitt’s home by kicking in the door.
