A Monticello man’s August 8 trial for failure to register as a sex offender was postponed after the man was shot.
James Green Jr. was shot in the leg with a 9-mm handgun late Wednesday night at a residence on Kennedy Blvd., according to Monticello Police Captain Eddy Deaton.
Deaton said a bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Franklin Junior, who left town after the shooting. Citing the on-going investigation, Deaton said he couldn’t disclose additional details.
Green was scheduled to be tried Monday for failing to register as a sex offender, instead, he’s being treated for a single gunshot wound to the right leg at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
As a result, those who were called for jury duty in Drew County Circuit Court need not report to the courthouse on Monday.
