A Monticello man suspected in the Sunday morning stabbing of a distant relative in Monticello is being held without bond pending a probation revocation in Chicot County. His bond for the first-degree murder charge in Drew County was set at $100,000.
At a first appearance hearing on Monday in Drew County Circuit Court, Circuit Judge Kenny Johnson set Michael Dancy’s bond at $100,000 on the first-degree murder charge but ordered him to be held without bond pending a probation revocation hearing in Chicot County.
Dancy, 42, of Monticello, was arrested Sunday morning in connection with the fatal stabbing of 48-year-old Tony McCraney, of Pine Bluff, according to Monticello Police Captain Eddy Deaton.
Deaton said McCraney’s neck was cut with a folding lock-blade type knife during the early morning hours of September 18. ”They got into a verbal alteraction and Dancy pulled a knife and stabbed McCraney in the neck,” Deaton said.
