The Monticello Music Club will present an organ recital at its regular monthly meeting on May 1 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church located at 821 North Main. Selections by Dubois, Handel, Mouret, Smith, and Wagner will be presented by organists Robert Ellis, Laura Ferguson, Joe Guenter, and Beverly Lobitz. The public is cordially invited to attend.
The organ is a 22-Rank Moller Organ Opus 9410 installed in the church’s sanctuary in October of 1960. Because each organ pipe produces a single pitch, the pipes are provided in sets called ranks, each of which has a common timbre and volume throughout the keyboard compass. Most organ have multiple ranks of pipes of differing timbre, pitch and loudness that the player can employ singly or in combination through the use of controls called stops. At this time this organ is the only pipe organ in Monticello.
