The Monticello Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run in which a motorist struck a pedestrian Tuesday on South Conely Street.

After being struck, the pedestrian was trapped and dragged under the vehicle for a short distance. The driver then drove away leaving the pedestrian in the roadway. The victim is in serious by stable condition, according to the Monticello Police Department.

The victim was unable to give a vehicle description but it is believed to be dark colored, possibly black.

The Monticello Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the driver.
