Robert Carter Jr., a 23-year-old Lake Village man charged with two counts of capital murder in the April 2011 deaths of his two children, has requested a second mental evaluation.

Earlier this year, Carter, through his attorneys, filed a notice of mental defect requesting a mental evaluation, which he received.

He has now filed a motion for a continuance, requesting additional evaluation.

“It is alleged that he has engaged in conduct that would warrant more mental evaluation, according to his attorneys,” said 10th judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen.

Deen declined to disclose the nature of the alleged conduct.

Carter was arrested in April 2011 after he allegedly drove a vehicle into the yard of a Dermott residence on Iowa Street where Latasha Figures, Carter’s former girlfriend, and their two children lived.

As Carter drove into the yard on April 17, 2011, he is alleged to have struck and killed 18-month-old Amoni Elasia Carter and critically injured 4-year-old Nekole Carter, who later died at a Little Rock hospital. Figures, 24, was also injured.
