A Lake Village woman suspected in the June 18 shooting death of her husband, Bobby Livingston, has been released from the hospital where she was being treated for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Kathy Livingston, 58, is alleged to have fatally shot her husband then shot herself. She is being held in a Jefferson County jail on a $1 million bond.

Livington’s first appearance hearing was held by teleconference on June 30 from her hospital room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center where she remained until she was released last week.

Though the shooting is still under investigation, 10th Judicial District Circuit Court Judge Sam Pope found probable cause to detain Livingston for first-degree murder and appointed a public defender to represent her. According to a preliminary autopsy report, Bobby Livingston died at 6:30 p.m. on June 18 of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen has not yet made a charging decision in the case. “I’ll wait to make a charging decision when I receive the entire case file,” he said.
