Two murder trials are set for next week in Southeast Arkansas. Both trials, one in Ashley County Circuit Court and one in Drew County Circuit Court, are scheduled to begin on August 2, according to 10th Judicial District prosecutor Thomas Deen.
Kendell Nickelson, 27, of Brookhaven, Miss. will be tried in Ashley County Circuit Court for the July 2010 shooting death of 58-year-old Donna J. Woodberry, the theft of Woodbury’s car and the robbery of a Crossett bank
Officials say Woodbury, of Crossett, was abducted at her home, fatally shot, and her car was stolen and used as a getaway car in a bank robbery.
Nickelson’s co-defendants, Peter Keith Harvey and Adrianne Juwan Green both pleaded guilty and were sentenced earlier this year.
Harvey, 42, of Opelousas, La., was sentenced to life without parole on March 3 after pleading guilty to murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and theft. Green, 31, of Crossett, was sentenced to 60 years in prison on April 19 after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery and theft.
In an unrelated case in Drew County, Nicholas Jamal Nix, 19, of Monticello, will be retried in Drew County Circuit Court for the March 5 shooting death of 25-year-old Katlin Lidge.
Nix’s first trial ended in a mistrial on June 30 when a Drew County jury failed to agree upon a verdict. Authorities say Nix, brother of Lidge’s girlfriend, fatally shot the former UAM football player during an altercation at a Monticello apartment complex.
Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen will try the Nickelson case. Deputy Prosecutor Chad Green will retry the Nix case.
