Nannie Dean Doss Maheras, 90, of Fayetteville, died June 2, 2014 at Washington Regional Hospice in Fayetteville.
She was born at Warren and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Aultman Clark.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maheras was preceded in death by a sister, Odessa Migrothy and two brothers, Seth Clark and Birdie Clark.
She married Ray Doss in 1945 and lived in Crossett for many years. They divorced in 1970 and she moved to Napa, Calif. Mr. Doss died in 1982. In 1990, she married Dr. Theodore Maheras, who survives her.
Mrs. Maheras is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Childers of Dallas, Texas; three children (and spouses/partners) Sonya Doss of Fayetteville, Ken Doss (Gina) of Fayetteville, and Fred Doss (John) of New York, NY; four grandchildren, Luke, Simon, Zoe, Andrew; five great-grandchildren and other beloved relatives.
She will be missed in so many ways…her southern charm, her determination, her biscuits and peach cobblers, her passion for her garden, her dogs sleeping in her lap, and most of all, her love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all her family and friends. She loved being a part of God’s creation and the beauty that surrounded her. She especially enjoyed putting on a straw hat and going fishing, and always enjoyed the sounds of birds singing most of all. She was very generous with her affections for all living things.
Funeral services will be held June 5 at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Crossett with Rev. Buddy Burton officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be June 4 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
