Nellie L. High, 95, of Gulfport, Miss. died January 22, 2014 at the Driftwood Nursing Home in Gulfport. Mrs. High grew up in the farming community near Snyder and moved to Gulfport from Orange, Texas in 1997.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulfport and a former member of the Little Cypress Baptist Church of Orange, Texas. Her church and her family were the focus of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard High in 1986; her parents, Jim and Emma Vieth Tumlison; three brothers, A.C. “Dude” Tumlison, Jim Tumlison and James “Son” Tumlison and two sisters, Tiny Callaway and Mildred Pamplin.
She is survived by three daughters, Angela S. Williams of Orange, Texas, Cheryl High and Tara E. High both of Gulfport, Mississippi; two sons, Charles Michael High of Orange, Texas and Leonard Keith High of Houston, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Bradley Williams, M. Keith Williams, Randy Hall, Reagan Hall, Tamara Elliot, Amy Meranda, Leonard (Bucky) High and Josh High; 7 great-grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held January 25 at 3 p.m. at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg with Rev. Vaughn Blue, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Josh High, Mike High, Keith High, Reagan Hall, Randy Hall, Bradley Williams, Keith Williams and Bucky High.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m., January 35 at the funeral home.
