PFC Nick Deaton

PFC Nick Deaton graduated Wednesday at the top of his Army basic training class at Fort Benning Ga. He was at the top of a class of 209 soldiers and was chosen as the 198th, 2/58th Alpha Company’s distinguished honor graduate. With this recognition, Deaton was awarded the U.S. Army’s Achievement Medal. During basic training, Deaton also received two challenge coins for his performance in physical training [PT], two more awards for excellence and the Iron Mike coin for be selected as honor graduate. Deaton will continue with his training at the US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning on November 25th, 2012. Upon completion of airborne training, he will be stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina, 82nd Airborne Division. Deaton is a 2012 graduate of Monticello High School. He is the son of Eddy and Patricia Deaton of Monticello and Dewayne and DD Burchfield of McGehee. Deaton, pictured left, immediately after leading the company in the Soldier’s Creed.
