It’s all academic now. Former State Sen. Jimmy Jeffress, of Crossett, wins the 2016 Southeast Arkansas Football Pickoff regardless of the outcome of this weekend’s final three state championship games.
Jeffress, who has an overall season record of 100-35, finishes in first place, followed by Seark Today in second place with an overall record of 98-37. Because Jeffress and Seark Today picked the same teams in two of the three final games, Jeffress wins regardless of the results of this weekend’s games. Jefress picked Warren, Hampton and Charleston while Seark Today picked Warren, Hampton and Prescott.
Jeffress got off to a slow start in the 2016 Southeast Arkansas Football Pickoff with a 1-7 record, behind Drew County Judge Robert Akin (the week 1 winner), State Rep. Gregg Reep of Warren, Seark Today and District Judge Sara Hartness of Monticello. But Jeffress quickly bounced back, winning the second week, third week, eighth week, tenth week, eleventh week, twelfth week and winning a tie-breaker with Seark Today the fourteenth week
Robert Akin, who was in first place the first three weeks, finished in third place with an overall record of 86-49. He did not make predictions the thirteenth week.
Gregg Reep finished with a 77-58 record, but it is worth noting that Reep, representing salineriverchronicle.com, did not make predictions in the Warren games throughout the season due to salineriverchronicle.com’s contract to live stream those games. Had he done so, he would have ended the contest in third place with an overall record of 90-45.
Sara Hartness, the week 7 winner, did not make predictions the 9th and 10th week.
