Orbert Jay “O. J.” Curry, 76, of Rye, passed away on July 19, 2018, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was born on May 18, 1942, in Drew County and was the son of the late Herston Curry and Margaret Coker Curry.
Mr. Curry was a retired engineer for Union Pacific Railroad, a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church. He also attended Harmony Free Will Baptist Church at Rye.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Curry was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Curry.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Christeen McKinney Curry of Rye; four daughters, Angela Mondragon of Conway, Tonya and Sonya Curry of Norwich, Connecticut and Megan Curry Wells and husband Andrew of Little Rock; a sister, Glenda Curry Andrews of the Rock Springs community; four grandsons, Danny and Joel Brickey, Jesse Mondragon and Sebastian Wells; three granddaughters, Lauren Curry Castle, Miranda Curry and Mariah Curry; three great grandchildren, Syndee, Maycee and Jake Brickey; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Union Cemetery at Rye.
Visitation is Sunday, July 22 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
