Personal Advocates of the Warren Shelter (P.A.W.S.) will conduct a “Stuff the Truck” event Saturday to collect food for fostered dogs rescued from the Warren Animal Shelter.

“This is an important event as it will benefit the dogs recently rescued from the Warren City Shelter who are currently in foster care,” said Susan Roberts, who, along with Melanie Camp, co-founded P.A.W.S. in 2012 to locate individuals willing to rescue or adopt animals at the Warren Animal Shelter.

“Stuff the Truck” will be held August 24 at the Mad Butcher parking lot in Warren where the bags of dog food will be placed in a truck.

Since 2012, when P.A.W.S. was founded, the number of dogs euthanized at the Warren Shelter has decreased. In 2011, the city euthanized 78 dogs. In 2012, that number decreased to 18, according to Roberts.

“We think we have made a difference,” Roberts said. “Our mission is to find rescue or adoption for all the dogs at the Warren Shelter. Help us as we march toward our mission.”
