Pat Busby Akin, 76, of Monticello, passed away on June 20, 2019 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born on August 16, 1942 in Little Rock to the late Dr. Arlee Kelton Busby, Sr. and Louise Yocum Busby.
Mrs. Akin was the widow of George Robert Akin, Sr. and a retired school teacher. She received her BSE at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and a Master’s in Special Education at University of Arkansas Little Rock. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Jeff Busby.
Survivors include her son, George Robert Akin, Jr. and wife Cindy Tucker Akin of Monticello; her daughter, Anita A. Akin Tennyson and husband Drew of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Justin Michael Evans and wife Kimberley of Junction City, Ashley Evans Kussman and husband Larry of Warren, Britni Akin of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Kinsley Akin Vickers and husband Hunter of Monticello and Tess Tennyson of El Dorado; seven great-grandchildren, Claire Evans, Jake Evans, Owen Evans, Sarah Evans, Adam Kussman, Brycen Kussman and Boston Akin; three brothers, Kelton Busby, Jr. and wife Betty of Monticello; Dr. Bo Busby and wife Nena of Little Rock and Bill Busby and wife Roselyn of Monticello; three sisters, Susan Woolridge of Bella Vista, Melissa Claycomb and husband Sonny of Conway and Jana Calhoun and husband Daron of The Woodlands, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
