Percy Brown, 87, of Crossett, died on July 7, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
He was a life long resident of Ashley County, a member of Zion Temple A.M.E. Church, and a retired plywood grader for Georgia-Pacific. He loved his job, but in his spare time he could always be seen outdoors. Mr. Brown’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and working in his vegetable garden.
He was born May, 28, 1927 in Montrose and was the son of the late Zack and Francis Jackson Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Percy Jr. and Levert Brown; two daughters Bobbie Jean and Francis Brown; three brothers, Harry Brown, Marvin Brown, and Morrell Brown and one sister Sarah Johnson.
He is survived by four sons; Billy Joe Dewitt of Little Rock; Charles (Lois) Brown, Gime Joe (Sherry) Brown, and Clarence Brown all of Crossett; three daughters, Florine Franklin Johnson of Kansas City Mo., Virginia Everhart of Little Rock, and Whitney Brown of Crossett; and one step-daughter, Erica (Roy Jr.) Langstaff of Crossett.
He is also survived by his oldest grandson Galvin “Don” Waits, and oldest granddaughter Edith Hawkins along with 38 other grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are three former wives, Florine Robinson of Little Rock, Pearlae Vine Brown, and Crystal Ponder of Memphis Tenn.
A funeral service will held July 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Medders Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with burial to following at Montrose Cemetery
Visitation is July 11 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
