Pete Rowe

Mr. Pete Rowe, 95, of Monticello, passed away January 17, 2022, at Monticello.

He was born April 30, 1926, in McGehee, to the late Willis Alius Rowe and Mary Chambers Rowe.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Mary Christine Rowe; two brothers, Vernon Rowe and Waymon Rowe; a daughter, Sue Burgess; and one grandson, Eric Wash.

Pete was a devoted member of Oak Grove Assembly of God, Monticello where he served as a deacon. He served as a Gideon in Monticello and loved the Gideon’s ministry of sharing the Word of God with the World. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and retired from the Naval Reserve after over 20 years of dedicated service.

Pete retired from Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company as the manager of the Dumas branch after a career of over 50 years. He sold Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners after retiring from ARKLA and was very fond of his memories of the many great folks he met going door-to-door throughout Southeast Arkansas. He loved nothing more in his later years than to run across someone he had sold a vacuum cleaner to. Pete was totally committed to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and a constant prayer warrior for God’s blessings and protection for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Pete is survived by two sons and their spouses, Vernon and Sandra Rowe of Pittsburg, Texas and Norman and Lisa Rowe of Cabot, Arkansas; one son-in-law, Joe Burgess of Monticello; four grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Visitation and services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church in Monticello. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the service 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Brandon Lauvell officiating. A graveside ceremony will be held immediately after the funeral service at the Tillar Cemetery on State Highway 277 west of Tillar.
