Pierce “Sonny” West, 80, of Wilmot, died on November 27, 2017 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.
Mr. West was a native of Macedonia, Arkansas and a resident of Wilmot for the past 48 years. He was a farmer and the Water Commissioner for the City of Wilmot for 15 years. He loved to care for people and while he always stayed busy, he took time to help his family and friends when they needed him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Verdie Nipper West; an infant brother; a brother, Morris West and a sister, Rachel West Terrell.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha Tullos West of Wilmot; two daughters, Sonya Barfield and husband, Jon, of Hamburg and Leslie Mayo and husband, Jeff, of Magnolia; a brother, Homer “Dee” West and wife, Margaret, of Magnolia; two sisters, Mildred Terrell and husband, Bobby, of Decatur, Texas and Cornell “Dolly” Sellers of Magnolia; three grandchildren, Kaylon Vail, Justin Mayo and Chris Barfield; three great-grandchildren, Brayleigh, Brayson and Dalton Barfield; a host of nieces and nephews but six he loved as his own, Les Tullos, Doug Tullos, Ben Tullos, Dan Tullos, Laura Armstrong and Julia Gildon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Elton officiating. Burial will be at the Wilmot Cemetery. Pallbearers are Les Tullos, Doug Tullos, Ben Tullos, Dan Tullos and Justin Mayo.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
