FNB McGehee

Police were still searching Wednesday afternoon for the armed robber who robbed the First National Bank of McGehee this morning.

The suspect robbed the bank at gunpoint then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, according to State Police Sgt. Scott Woodward.

The three bank employees were not injured.

The robbery occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the bank branch on U.S. 65 where the door handle was covered with a piece of white paper and a handmade sign attached to the door directing customers to the main bank.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, State Police and Desha County Sheriff Jim Snyder are assisting McGehee police in the investigation.
