A Bradley County man is being held on a $250,000 bond in connection with the death of his father.

Alfonzo Hampton, 35, of Johnsville, reportedly drove to the Warren Police Department Tuesday carrying his father’s body in the trunk of a vehicle.

Hampton told police he had killed his father, 58-year-old Fred Hampton, also of Johnsville. Alfonzo Hampton was taken into custody without incident, and is being held in the Dallas County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to State Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Chapman.

Fred Hampton’s body has been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine manner and cause of death.

Citing the ongoing investigation, State Police declined to release additional details.
