Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced Monday the appointment of Steven Porch to succeed 10th Judicial District Circuit Judge Don Glover. Glover is retiring.
Porch, of Monticello, has been the managing attorney in 10th Judicial District Public Defender’s Office since February 15, 2008. The office handles 90 to 95 percent of all of the criminal cases in the district which includes Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha and Drew counties.
Porch received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma Law School in 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Little Rock Central High School. He has lived in Monticello since 2003.
Porch will serve from Jan. 1, 2017 until Dec. 31, 2018.
The late P. Luevonda Ross was elected to succeed Glover, but she died on December 2, a month before she was sworn in.
