Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen has requested a state police investigation into what appears to be a fictitious invoice and any transactions related to an April 3, 2015 check for $22,500 endorsed by Monticello Mayor Zack Tucker.
Nita McDaniel, director of the Monticello Economic Development Commission and a member of the Monticello Advertising & Promotion Commission, recently discovered what appears to be a fictitious invoice for $22,500 from the Economic Development Fund of Monticello (EDFM) to the City of Monticello for half of ETC Engineering fees for convention center specifications.
McDaniel told the A&P Commission Wednesday night that the EDFM did not submit the invoice. Mayor Tucker’s initials appear on the invoice.
On April 3, 2015, a check for $22,500 from the City of Monticello Advertising & Promotion Commission Fund was made payable to the Economic Development Fund of Monticello. The check bears what appears to be Mayor Tucker’s signature and endorsed on the reverse side by Mayor Tucker.
Tucker, in a brief telephone conversation on Thursday, declined to comment. “I can’t comment on it,” Tucker said.
