Southeast Arkansas, plagued by forest fires since Saturday, is seeing some welcome relief in the extremely dry conditions.

Rain began to fall early Friday morning.

Firefighters battled an Ashley County forest fire over the weekend that burned about 600 acres. The following three days, firefighters fought a forest fire in Bradley County that reportedly burned nearly early 2,000 acres before it was contained. Just as the Bradley County fire was getting under control, another fire broke out in Drew County Thursday afternoon, burning more than 600 acres and causing the temporary evacuation of some area residents before it was contained shortly before 2 a.m. Friday.
