Brian Ramsey, assistant commissioner for communications of the Great American Conference, is returning to the University of Arkansas at Monticello as assistant athletic director for media relations.
Ramsey was UAM’s sports information director from 2007-11.
“We are pleased to welcome Brian Ramsey back to UAM,” said Athletics Director Chris Ratcliff. “Brian did an excellent job as sports information director and with his added administrative experience with the conference office, will bring fresh insight and new ideas to the Department of Athletics.”
A native of Harrison, Ramsey directed all media relations for the 10-member Great American Conference for all of the GAC’s 13 NCAA Division II sponsored sports. He also served as webmaster of the GAC internet site, coordinated GAC social media outlets, directed the league’s player of the week program for all sports, coordinated all-conference and special award programs, and supervised championship tournament planning and game operations.
Prior to becoming UAM’s sports information director in 2007, Ramsey served as a sports information graduate assistant at Henderson State University, worked as a summer intern at KFSM 5 News in Fort Smith, and as a sports information student assistant at Arkansas Tech.
Ramsey earned a bachelor of arts degree in print and broadcast journalism from Arkansas Tech in 2007.
