Ray Alton McCallie, 81, of Arkansas City, passed away August 23, 2020.
He was born in Arkansas City, Arkansas on February 5, 1939 to the late Chester Willis McCallie and Ruby Carter McCallie.
Mr. McCallie was a 1957 graduate of Arkansas City High School and graduated from Arkansas A&M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
He retired as the manager of Bunge Grain Elevator after 33 years.
He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Desha Lodge #643 F&AM, a member of Gideon’s International, and a member of Arkansas City Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He loved to hunt, fish and work in the garden.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy McCallie and Louis McCallie and his sister, Patsy McCallie.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cynthia Vick McCallie; son, James (Carrie) McCallie of Monticello; daughter, Karen (Joe) Robertson of Tillar; brothers, Dale (Lana) McCallie of Irving, Texas and Don (Peggy) McCallie of Dittmer, Missouri; sister, Judy (Frank) Appleberry of Tillar; sisters-in-law, Pat McCallie of McGehee and Becky McCallie of Monticello; grandchildren, Shannon (Travis) Mosier, Josh Robertson, Tyler Robertson, Jonathan Halley, Brittany Halley and Christopher Halley and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 25 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 26 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jody Gannaway and Rev. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery.
