Ray Mathus Veazey, 83, of Godfrey Place (Bradley County) died on March 16, 2016 at Bradley County Medical Center.

He was a retired boilermaker, a member of Palestine Methodist Church, a Shriner, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Mr. Veazey was born on November 24, 1932 in Johnsville, and was the son of the late Lavoisier Mathus Veazey and Willie Jeanette Martin Veazey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Thomason Veazey; two sons, Gary “Mike” Veazey and Stephen Veazey; and two sisters, Vivian Ferrell and Mary James.

Survivors are three daughters, Pam Veazey of Godfrey Place, Tanya Smith Carter of Monticello, and Robin Veazey of Richmond, Texas; a brother, Gene Veazey of Monticello; 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on March 19 at 10 a.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren with Revs. Charles Cauley and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Burial will be at Palestine Cemetery.
