Raymond LansdaleRaymond “Buddy” Lansdale, 75, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

He was born on December 22, 1940 in the Possum Valley community (Drew County) to the late George Washington Lansdale and Edna Mae Newton Lansdale.

He was a retired educator, builder, developer and was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Lansdale was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his passion was gardening. He was a proud member of The Medicine Men of Comanche Gap, a professional fraternity where he was the youngest man to be inducted into the organization.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bret Leslie Lansdale; a sister, Willene Greer; a brother-in-law, Travis Greer; five brothers, Troy Lansdale, Roy Lansdale, Earl Lansdale, Tracy Lansdale and Dallas Lansdale.

Survivors include one son, Scott L. Lansdale and Maryjane Shelby of Copperas Cove, Texas; one brother, Billy Rex Lansdale and wife Delores of Monticello; three grandchildren, Mason, Clay and Molly Lansdale; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a special friend of 25 years, LaNell McKiever and the entire McKiever family.

Funeral service will be Friday, February 5, at 1 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello with burial to follow in Possum Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
