Arkansas District 26 State Senate Democratic candidate Gregg Reep outraised his Democratic opponents and Republican Mike Akin in February campaign contributions but Akin, who has no opponent in the May primary election, still has the healthiest war chest.
Reep, a former state representative from Warren, ended February with $20,896. He had $15,285 going into the month and added another $10,110 from 43 contributors. His only expenditure was a $4,500 filing fee to the state Democratic party.
Mike Akin, a Monticello businessman, began February with $44,746 and raised another $4,425 from 23 contributors. He spent just under $10,597, including a $7,500 filing fee to the state Republican Party. Akin ended the month with $38,574.
Eddie Cheatham, a state representative from Crossett, began February with $20,881 and raised another $600 from two contributors. He spent $4,560, including a $4,500 filing fee to the state Democratic Party. Cheatham ended the month with $16,921.
Johnnie Bolin, a former state representative from Crossett, began the month with about $6,500 in his campaign war chest and raised another $1,600 from three contributors. He spent $5,196, including the $4,500 filing fee to the state Democratic Party. His February ending balance was $2,903.
District 26 includes Ashley, Bradley, Chicot and Drew counties and portions of Desha, Lincoln and Cleveland counties.
