Gregg Reep, of Warren, announced today that he intends to run for District 26 state senator in the 2012 election.
The district includes Ashley, Bradley, Chicot and Drew counties and portions of Desha, Lincoln and Cleveland counties.
“I look forward to being in each of the counties of the district in the coming months and am eager to listen to your concerns and viewpoints,” Reep said in a Thursday afternoon news release. “I request your vote and support.”
Reep, 57, is a former state representative and former mayor of Warren. He has operated a private consulting firm and works for salineriverchronicle.com, an online web site providing news and community information.
Reep, a lifelong resident of Southeast Arkansas, is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he received a B.A. degree in political science. He is a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church where he teaches Sunday School and serves as the church clerk. He is also a member of the Warren Lions Club.
Reep is married to Beverly Reep, a veteran teacher of 32 years who is employed by the Warren School District. They have an adult son, Rob.
