Andres Rios, an infielder at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, is an honorable mention selection to the 2018 National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America Preseason All-American team.
Rios, a senior from San Diego, California, also earned a First Team All-Central Region preseason selection.
He was in the top five of a number of UAM stat catagories, including second in runs batted in (44), third in doubles (11), third in at-bats (191), fourth in batting average (.309), and fourth in hits (59).
Rios also finished 2017 second in sacrifice flies in the Great American Conference, 10th in runs batted in, along with 11th in assists and sixth in fielding double plays on the defensive side of the field.
Last year, the Weevils captured its second consecutive GAC Championship Tournament title and its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Arkansas-Monticello will open the season with a non-conference home series against Pittsburg State this weekend. First pitch is scheduled for Friday, February 2 at 1 p.m. at Weevils Field.
