Logan Prescott
According to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department, three teenagers in a Honda Civic were traveling southbound on Arkansas 133 at about 5 p.m. when they tried to pass a car and did not see an oncoming vehicle in the northbound lane. The two cars collided, sending both into a roadside ditch along the northbound lane.
All three boys in the Civic were students at Rison High School and members of the football team. Logan Prescott died in the accident while Josh Cook, the driver of the Civic, and Justin Ross, a passenger in the front seat, were both seriously injured.
Lee Applegarth, 63, of Poyen, who was driving a 1964 Plymouth Valiant convertible, was also injured.
Ross and the driver of the convertible had to be removed with the help of a rescue crew. The Rison Fire Department used the jaws of life to help extract Ross from the Civic.
Cook and the driver of the convertible were transported by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Emergency personnel worked to stabilize Ross before a medical helicopter was called in airlift him to a Little Rock hospital.
The condition of all three people injured in the accident was not available at press time.

Living in a small town has it’s positive’s and negative’s. One of the negative’s is when tragedy like this come’s upon a small town like Rison, Arkansas it effects the whole town. Rison is very proud of their football program and it is like all three of these boys are a part of the family. Logan Prescott was a good, polite, and honest young man. Logan’s family are dear friend’s of mine and next door neighbor’s. Theses parents are going through every parents worst nightmare.
We need to lean on GOD in these times and come together as a community, forgetting our differences, and supporting each other as GOD asks us too.
May GOD bless and have mercy on the Prescott, Cook, and Ross family.
My head football coach from Des Arc Dusin Prescott is takin this hard right now cause he lost his younger brother yesterday and im hopin coach will lets us put a sign out on the football field for his brother and my prayer is out on my football coach an his family.
