Robert Earston “Bobby” Crain, Jr., 81, of Selma, passed away September 8, 2021, at the Desha County Hospital in McGehee.
He was born June 19, 1940, in Drew County, to the late Robert Earston Crain and Hazel Cowan Crain.
He was retired from the National Resources Soil Conservation Service (NRCS), a United States Army veteran and attended First Assembly of God Church. He also raised chickens for Tyson for ten years. Bobby enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, raising his cows, gardening and going to UAM and Star City Bulldog football games.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Gary Crain.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Beverly Whitaker Crain of Selma; eight children, Penny (Phillip) Martin of Crossett, Melanie (Tony) Brotherton of Florence, Lisa (Scott) Paden of Little Rock, Dr. Jana Crain of San Francisco, California, Tony Hood of Selma, Jason (Brandy) Crain of Benton, John Crain of Washington, DC and Julie Crain of Little Rock; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Haley, Kaitlyn, Cheyenne, Layne, Aaron, Josh, Rebecca and Ben; and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Sunday, September 12, at 4:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church with burial to follow at the Tillar Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5.p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
