Robert Lowell Chambliss, Sr., 83, of Star City, died on August 3, 2016 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He was a member of Mt. Home United Methodist Church and served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the Engineering Combat Battalion. He was a retired machinist of 41 years, a charter member of Mt. Home Hunting Club and the United Paper Industry Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and visiting with family and friends.
Mr. Chambliss was born on July 2, 1933 in Star City and was the son of the late Charlie Little and Letha Belle Hamilton Chambliss.
Also preceding him in death was a son, Robert “Bob” Chambliss, Jr.; three brothers, Winford, Roland and Edwin Chambliss; and sister, Verlia Owen Fullbright.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vedia Farley Chambliss of Star City; two daughters, Peggy (Mike) Green of Watson Chapel and Terry (Kirk) Furneaux of Star City; five granddaughters, BreAnna (Chris) Rhodes, Sarah (Scott) Hainstock, Brittany (John) McBee, Angela Nicole (Steven) Lozeau and Megan (Jeffrey) Boyce; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Charlene Adden of Lincoln, Nebraska and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on August 6 at 10 a.m. at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Visitation is August 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Home Cemetery.
