Robert Moore DeFir, Jr., 93, of Selma died on June 22, 2019 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was a mechanic.
Mr. DeFir was born on April 5, 1926 in Desha County and was the son of the late Robert M. DeFir, Sr. and Hetti E. (Sykes) DeFir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Sharon Milholland, and Regina DeFir; brothers, Walter Henry DeFir and Kilbourne DeFir; and sister, Norma Burton.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Venita Marilyn (King) DeFir; son, Robert M. DeFir, III and wife Leighanne of Selma; five daughters, Laura A. Andrews of Monticello, Mitzi DeFir of Harrison, Robin Boyd of Texas, Eva Peacock of McGehee, and Brenda King of Selma-Collins; five sisters, Diane Maddox, Virgina Accord, Wanda Williams, Lois DeFir, and Gwen DeFir; and three brothers, David DeFir, Jim DeFir, and William DeFir, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at the Bishop-King Funeral Home, located at 1831 Hwy 65 & 82, in Lake Village, with Phillip Payne officiating. Burial will follow at the Selma Cemetery.
