Robert R. “Bob” Murphy, 94 of Gould, Arkansas departed this life on February 19, 2022, in Gould, Arkansas.

He was born in Watson, Arkansas on September 17, 1928, to the late William H. Murphy and Lillie Mae Russell Murphy.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Sue Overton Murphy, the mother of his children; his second wife, Rosie Louise Rush Murphy; one grandson, Ronald Bradley, Jr.; and a great granddaughter, Blaire Elizabeth Carlton.

He is survived by his children, Claudia Sue (David) Georgini of Gould, Patricia Lynne Murphy of Gould, Barbara Ann Blair, (Vaughn Giddens) of Sulphur Springs, Texas; his stepchildren, Linda (Ronald Sr.) Bradley of Gould, Betty Stewart of Pine Bluff, and George (Allison) Williford of Midland, Texas; his grandchildren, Cara Dee Lennox, Mary Melissa Blair, Danny Brown and Jodie Fields; and great grandchildren, Jake Thurman, Ashtyn Fields, Zach Fields, Josh Brown, Bethany Brown, Dustin Williford, Karlie Williford and Mark David, great granddaughter Blakeley Rose; and a host of family and friends.

Bob and his family moved to the Gould area from Watson in 1928 following the flood of 1927. He had a great wealth of knowledge of Lincoln County and loved to share his knowledge.

He loved his family. Those of us who loved him, his family and friends, can truthfully say we don’t know of one enemy he ever had. He was loved by all.

He started working at a very young age and developed a work ethic that he has passed on to many, young and old. So many knew him as, Mr. Bob, and for over thirty years Ms. Rose was by his side. He was a very loving, hardworking and honest man.

For many years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and having as many family members and friends together as often as possible. The more the merrier. Oh, if each of us could share stories about our Daddy we would be here for days.

He had recently shared with us that he was Baptized into the Christian Church here in Gould at a very young age, and in 1955 he was baptized and join The First Baptist Church in Gould, Arkansas, to serve as a member with his late wife Mary Sue and their children. When he married Rosie, she too became a member of the church.

Visitation held from 5-7 PM at First Baptist Church in Gould on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Graveside services held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Dark Corner Cemetery with Rev. Dubs Byers and Brother Michael Ault officiating.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Bob may be made to First Baptist Church, Gould, Arkansas or to Ronald McDonald House.
