The 65th Annual PRCA Rodeo and early voting in special sales tax election to fund several big projects are underway this week in Crossett. The rodeo kicks off  Wednesday with a 4 p.m. parade in downtown Crossett and early voting in the sales tax election began Tuesday.

The rodeo, hosted by the Crossett Riding Club, runs Wednesday through Saturday and gets underway each night at 8 p.m. at Cap Gates Arena. Special events include a rodeo parade, the Crossett Riding Club’s Queen Contest, Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night and Family Discount Night. Rodeo Schedule

Meanwhile, early voting is underway for a sales tax proposal and bond issue to fund the construction of a community center, two new fire stations and the renovation of a municipal building.

The proposal includes a one-cent sales tax increase to fund the construction of the facilities and another half-cent for maintenance and operation. The cost of the projects is expected to be about $20 million which would be financed through a bond issue. Early voting began Tuesday and runs through Friday and continues again on Monday. The election is August 13.
