Rosie Lee Hamm, 75, of Crossett, passed away on June 30, 2016, at the Ashley County Medical Center of Crossett.
She was born on January 28, 1941, to the late Claude and Gertrude Richardson and co-owned Hamm’s Hydraulics with her husband, Jack. “Jo” was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, and yard sale jumping with her best friend, Tuffy.
Mrs. Hamm’s compassionate heart was evident in everything she did, which included cooking for shut-ins. She always went out of her way to help anyone in need. She enjoyed sitting outside admiring birds, squirrels, and butterflies, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and her church family at Community Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Richardson, Jr., John White, and Fred White; and one sister, Ida May White.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lynwood “Jack” Hamm of Crossett; two sons, Belvin Hamm and wife Joan and Richard Marion Hamm all of Crossett; a daughter, Deborah Sturdivant and special friend, Donnie Morphis also of Crossett; two sisters, Viola Neilson of Winnsboro, Louisiana, and Polly Guillot of Minden, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Jacky Sturdivant, Kyle Sturdivant, Chancee Griffith, Anna Sudduth, Jana Smith, and Jarrod Hamm; seven great-grandchildren; her best friend, Kathryn “Tuffy” Higginbotham; and a host of extended grandchildren that adopted her as their “Mamaw”.
A funeral service will be held on July 3 at 2 p.m. at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in North Crossett with Bro. Mike Chain officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery.
