Ruby Ogles McCone, 90, of Monticello, left her earthly body and was made whole again on the evening of December 8, 2021, in Monticello.
She was born June 24, 1931, to the late Leroy Ogles and Maggie Fincher Ogles.
She was retired from Walmart, but her true ”job” and calling was in cooking and caring for others. If you knew ”Nana”, then you’ve probably had a plate full of fried chicken and a belly full of vegetables from her garden. She spent her life selflessly caring for those in need and continued this service during the time she spent at Grand Manor and through her last days. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren carry the memories of her fun-loving personality and shared her motto of ”what happens at Nana’s house, stays at Nana’s house.”
In addition to her mother and father, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bonnie Deal McCone; her brother, Otis Ogles; and a sister, Lexie Willis.
Ruby is survived by a sister, Julie Burton of Monticello; a son, Randy Paul McCone, and his wife Rena of Monticello; a daughter, Cindy Calhoun, and husband Randy of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Leslie Prater of Jonesboro, Hannah Flemister and husband Brian of Monticello, Kohl Jones and husband Beau of Lacey; great-grandchildren, Easton and Landry Prater, Carter and Davis Jones, and Maisa and Tate Flemister.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 13, at 2 p.m. in Union Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
