It will be three more weeks before Drew County Democrats will know who their nominee will be for Drew County Collector, a position currently held by Drew County Sheriff & Collector Mark Gober.

Tonya Loveless, the executive deputy collector, received 40 percent of the vote in Tuesday night’s Democratic Primary while Josh Frost received 39 percent. Cheri Adcock Norris finished third with 21 percent.

The complete but unofficial results were:

Tonya Loveless – 1,186
Josh Frost – 1,153
Cheri Adcock Norris – 621

The winner of the runoff will face Republican nominee Andrea Huskey in the November General Election. Huskey was unopposed in her  bid for the Republican nomination.

Last year, the Arkansas Legislature split the combined sheriff and collector position in Drew County, creating the separate tax collector position as it is in many Arkansas counties.

In 2013, when the new collector takes office that person will be the first in Drew County to hold the sole collector position.
