Sam Carter, 72 of Wilmar, died March 12, 2014 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He was a pipeline worker and for many years he worked road construction for Courson Construction and Thompson Construction. He was a member of The Life Church in Monticello, a United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam.
Mr. Carter was born February 16, 1942 at Wilmar and was the son of the late William Carter and Vernie Osgood Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Carter and a sister, Geneva Engen.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Loomis Carter; a son, Steven Woolford, Conroe, Texas; two daughters, Tracy Daniel and Pam Carter, both of Wilmar; one sister, Ann Harton of Warren; five grandchildren, Kristen Daniel, Christopher Woolford, Jordan Woolford, Gavin Daniel and Lorraina Carter.
Funeral services will be held March 16 at 2 p.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren with Rev. Larry Doggett officiating.
Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is March 15 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
