Samuel Lee Walton, 66, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Hamburg and Monticello, died April 2, 2014 at Vitas Hospice in Dallas.
He was a native of Hamburg, a resident of Dallas for the past six months, a resident of Monticello for 38 years and resident of Pine Bluff for six years. He was a retired supervisor for Sharper Image and was a member and deacon at Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness in Hamburg.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Griggs Woods; his father, Alvert Walton and one brother, Phillip Walker. He loved singing, his church and served faithfully as a deacon until his health failed.
He is survived by is wife of 20 years, Dorothy Blackshire Walton; a son, Samuel Lee Walton, Jr. of Monticello; four daughters, Markeisha Walton of Monticello, Tracey Briggs of Little Rock, and Kimberly Baker and Taylor Todd, both of Conway; five brothers, James Tucker of Pine Bluff, Tommie Walker and wife Mildred of Little Rock, Carson Griggs and wife Barbara of Little Rock, Darrell Griggs of Orlando, Fla., Colvita Griggs and wife Yolanda of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Helen Nixon and husband Clifford, and Agnes Gibbs all of Dallas, and Regina Griggs and husband Don of Monticello; fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Viewing is April 5 from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home in Hamburg. Funeral services are April 6 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness with Eld. Robert Adams, Jr., officiating. Burial will be at Johnson Memorial Cemetery.
