Sandra Sue Lockwood, 74, of Crossett, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family and her special friend, Toni Jo.
She was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, on July 23, 1946, to her parents, Charles and Billie Jean Odenbaugh Hassler.
She was a graduate of Bastrop High School and an active member of Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
She was outgoing and enjoyed playing the piano. She was genuinely devoted to her family, her church, and, most importantly, God. Sandra didn’t just attend church but taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir, and could always be depended on to help with Bible school. Her love for children even led her to become a foster grandparent, with which she took great pride.
Her prayer always included asking God to give her opportunities to witness to lost souls so that she could share the love of Jesus Christ; however, her health kept her home. Her faith was so strong that she even saw her hospital stay as an answered prayer and tried to share the gospel with everyone she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of fifty-four years, Charlie Richard Lockwood.
Her survivors include one son, Darryl Lockwood, and wife, Joanna; one daughter, Carla Riles, all of Crossett; a brother, Mike Hassler, and wife, Shirley, of West Monroe, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Jacob Lockwood and wife, Allison, Jared Lockwood, Caleb Taylor, and Jeremy Kendrick and wife, Heather; a special nephew, Scotty Lockwood, and wife, Angela.
A graveside service will be held at Rolfe Chapel Cemetery as soon as the weather conditions permit. Check Medders Funeral Home for updates.
