The Southeast Arkansas Concert Association will kick off its 2018-19 season on October 4 with baritone performance by Andre Chiang, the National Federation of Music’s Young Artist of the Year on October 4, at 7 p.m, at the UAM Fine Arts Center.

The performance will be presented in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Monticello, the Pine Bluff Musical Coterie and the Monticello Music Club.

Later in the month, the Arkansas Shakespeare Theater brings the family-friendly, one-hour Shakespeare adaptation of Much Ado about Nothing. The performance, which will be held on October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center at UAM, will tell the tale of Beatrice and Bernadick, two sworn-off lovers brought together by family and friends.

An area favorite, the Holiday Pops Extravagnaza, returns on Sunday, December 9, at 3 p.m. at the UAM Fine Arts Center. Guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit, the Holiday Pops Extravaganza features the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, conducted Kermit Poling, and the Arkansas Festival Ballet performing selections from The Nutcracker.

The new year will usher in a real treat with a show by the South Arkansas bluegrass and gospel group, the Haley Creek Boys, on January 26 at 7 p.m. at the UAM Fine Arts Center. The band features a banjo, fiddle, mandolin, French harp, and guitars and has played together for more than 40 years.

Rounding out the season in March, will be a community theater musical featuring talented community members in the classic, well-loved musical, Mary Poppins. In addition to performances at local schools and a special performance fundraiser, the Southeast Arkansas Concert Association will host performances of Mary Poppins on March 7, 8, and 9. Auditions for Mary Poppins will be announced and held in January 2019. Tickets will be on sale once cast performance announcements have been made, though you can reserve your spot with a season membership today.
